PASS PLUS COURSE
Pass Plus sessions for full licence holders
Obtaining a driving licence unlocks new opportunities. You can become more independent and it allows you to travel further for work or leisure but, as a relatively inexperienced driver, the early stages can also be the most dangerous. In their first year of driving, one driver in five is involved in a collision and the 17 – 24 year old age group are over-represented in the casualty statistics.

PASS PLUS
(full licence holders)
6 development modules aimed primarily at those that have recently passed their driving test
£240*
6 x 1 hour (minimum) modules

Pass Plus is designed for drivers who have recently passed their test but now have some independent road experience. It consists of 6 modules which include:
-
Town driving
-
All-weather driving
-
Out of town driving and rural roads
-
Night driving
-
Dual carriageways
-
Motorways
Sussex is a predominantly rural county so the ability to drive safely on rural roads is very important. Collisions that take place on these types of roads tend to be at higher speeds and the consequences can therefore be more severe. According to the 2023 Department for Transport collision data, 60% of fatalities occurred on rural roads.

A Pass Plus course must consist of a minimum of 6 hours training but there is no test at the end. Once you have shown competence, each module is signed off and, on successful completion, you receive a certificate. I currently charge £240* for the course and you may be able to recoup that (or more) by getting a discount on your insurance from participating insurance companies (not all insurers participate so make sure that you check).
*if further sessions are required to meet the standard, there may be additional costs involved.
